The West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre (WPSRCC) Board met on March 8 and authorized the WPSRCC Steering Committee’s recommendations to award the Construction Manager RFP to Ball Construction and the Fundraising and Naming Rights Consultation RFP to the Performance Sponsorship Group.
The WPSRCC Steering Committee made the recommendation to award the contract to Ball Construction in consultation with CS&P Architects and The Gordon + Gordon Group (the project’s construction management firm) and after reviewing and evaluating several submissions. The cost for this component of the project is just under $1.4 million. Ball Construction is based in Kitchener and has experience in various large, complex construction projects in Ontario.
The WPSRCC Fundraising Committee worked closely with the Steering Committee on their recommendation to engage Performance Sponsorship Group for a fixed fee of $46,250 and a commission rate of 13.5 percent. Performance Sponsorship Group, out of Orangeville, provides strategic sponsorship counsel to municipalities, towns, cities, publicly funded institutions, and entertainment venues.
Seguin Township Mayor Ann MacDiarmid, chair of the fundraising team, also gave a verbal update to the board on behalf of the fundraising team. The group is currently planning an invitational event for April 12, thanking supporters of their six-lane pool campaign. The volunteer group is continuing to work behind the scenes on new initiatives to achieve their goal of raising $5 million in capital funds and $5 million in endowment funds.
